Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Stockpile is built and run by one person (Paul Russo). This policy says what data the app touches and why, in plain language. The short version: your inventory is yours, the camera never leaves your phone, and nothing is sold to anyone.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a display name, used to sign you in and let household members recognize you.
- Your inventory data: the items, locations, quantities, dates, notes, and photos you add. Stored securely (Supabase, hosted in the United States) so it syncs across your devices and household.
- Barcode lookups: when you scan an unknown barcode, the barcode number is sent to product databases (Open Food Facts, UPCitemdb) to fetch the product's name and image. Product names for barcodes you scan are cached in a shared catalog so future scans are faster for everyone. Nothing about you, your household, or your quantities is part of that catalog.
- Purchases: subscription status is processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.
- Usage analytics: product events (like "item added" or "invite sent") via PostHog — see the Analytics section below for exactly how that works.
What we don't do
- No selling or sharing your data with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.
- No ads in the app.
- The camera feed is processed on your device for barcode detection. Camera images are not uploaded unless you explicitly take an item photo.
Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics. Before you sign in, events are anonymous. Once you sign in, events are associated with your account ID so we can understand how the product is actually used — which features earn their keep, where people get stuck. We don't sell this data, don't share it with advertisers, and don't use it to track you across other companies' apps or sites.
Household sharing
If you join a household, members of that household can see the shared inventory, shopping lists, and your display name. Leaving a household removes your access; items you added remain with the household.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or by following the steps on our account deletion page. Deletion removes your account, your personal data, and your household data if you're the last member, within 30 days.
